United Way of Northeast Mississippi is working to help local communities through their Monday’s Miracle program.
Recently, they featured Excel, Inc. This partnership focuses on providing essential services and resources to improve the lives of individuals and families in the area.

Excel, Inc. was founded in Okolona, Mississippi in 1988 with the purpose of furthering education, promoting community building, encouraging community service and fostering healthy lives. From its beginning, Excel has been committed to racial, religious and economic inclusiveness at every level: leadership, planning and participation.

Excel Commons Family Community Center is the heart of Main Street in Okolona. What began as a summer youth program in three borrowed classrooms in 1988, has turned a former department store into the community hub. Children’s enrichment, and senior wellness are the core of Excel’s programs, while a community gym, computer lab and commons room are open to all in need. Excel also includes a resale shop, coffee shop, senior apartments and a homeless shelter.
