Children’s Learning Program
After School Excel
The After School Learning program serves children grades K-12 by assisting students with homework, strengthening basic skills, providing access to technology, and supporting students in the development of healthy self-esteem.
This program operates Monday through Friday and follows the Okolona Public School calendar.

Summer Excel Learning Program
Each summer, Excel offers a variety of learning activities for elementary age children.
It keeps students learning while on vacation from school assuring their safety and involvement in creative pastimes. Learning activities include reading, math, computer, art, music, cooking, science and excursions. Excel provides breakfast and lunch to summer participants.

Vacation Excel
During each school vacation, Excel sponsors programs of creative activities for children.
Adult Programs
Adult Basic Education
This program provides individual tutoring to assist adults with basic literacy skills.

Parent Enrichment Program
The Parent Enrichment Program is for parents of Excel students to: support them in achieving their educational and workforce goals; guide them in supporting their child’s academic, physical, and social development; strengthen their parenting skills; and provide opportunities for parent-child interaction.

C.N.A.
The Excel Certified Nurse Assistant Program is designed to prepare students aged 25 years of age and older who have a high-school diploma or GED for a career in the field of healthcare. Participants are required to make a deposit of $100.00 prior to beginning classes. Upon successful completion of mentorship and C.N.A. and passing state tests, their deposit is refunded.

Computer Lab
The computer center located at Excel Commons is open to the public making access available to people who do not otherwise have computers and the internet available.

Exercise Center
The exercise center is located at Excel Commons and has exercise equipment available for adults’ personal or group exercise on a drop-in basis.
Senior Programs
Active Aging Program
Active Aging is a weekly day-out program for retired citizens. Activities include exercise, board games, shuffleboard, informational presentations, excursions, and all things of interest to seniors.

Senior Apartments
Four apartments are available for low-income residents 55 years of age and older. The apartments are sponsored by Grace Housing, Inc. non-profit, a subsidiary of Excel.

Other
Elizabeth House Homeless Shelter
Elizabeth House was established in 2022 to provide a residence for women and children in need of temporary housing and social support. The shelter is sponsored by Grace Housing, Inc. non-profit, a subsidiary of Excel.

Excel Family Park
A generous benefactor donated property close to downtown Okolona. Volunteers transformed the space into a small park with playground equipment, a gazebo and green space for use by the public.

One of A Kind Resale Store
In 1994 Excel opened the One-of-a-Kind Store to respond to the local need for affordable clothing and household items. Income from the store provides a source of funding for Excel’s children’s learning programs. The store is operated entirely by volunteers who donate their time to sort and display items and serve customers.

Mugs on Main Coffee Shop
Mugs on Main is a downtown coffee shop designed as a gathering place for visitors to share coffee, soup, sandwiches, cookies, and specialty baked goods. Mugs is in the front of the Senior Center and all proceeds are applied to senior services.
